Financial Controller

Headquartered in Belfast, Devenish are a leading provider of environmental, animal and human health solutions and a key influencer in driving health and sustainability throughout the food chain. Devenish has three manufacturing sites in the UK, from where they supply innovative nutritional solutions and technical expertise to producers through the farm, feed and food industry in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australasia and Latin America.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will work within the Finance team, to optimize financial performance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key duties include:

  • Ensure the preparation of accurate group monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts as required.
  • Manage cash flow.
  • Provide financial analysis for investment decisions and business development
  • Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors ensuring compliance with accounting standards and requirements.
  • Fulfil all legal and regulatory obligations, including overseeing PAYE submissions to HMRC, Revenue etc.
  • Translate financial data into clear and concise reports, empowering informed decision-making at all levels.
  • Manage the company's cash assets, ensuring optimal liquidity and financial stability.
  • Prepare and report on ad hoc financial information as requested.
  • To gain a good understanding of the business and act as a business partner to the other areas of the business to support the achievement of our strategic goals.
  • Develop and manage your finance team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Participate and support the finance team in the recruitment, development and mentoring of members of the team to deliver comprehensive and legally compliant financial management.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably be requested.

Essential Criteria:

You should be able to demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

  • Fully Qualified Accountant with a good commercial acumen
  • CIMA, ACA or equivalent qualification with at least 4 years relevant manufacturing PQE.
  • Must have had exposure to working in businesses operating at a minimum £50M turnover.
  • Strong experience of consolidated management accounts
  • Advanced Excel/modelling skills
  • Ability to review and where necessary drive change in financial management information systems and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build constructive working relationships with all levels in an organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with an ability to demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Results driven with sound business judgment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure.
  • Strong IT Skills including experience in the use of payroll systems with extracting reports, maintaining information and development of current systems to meet business requirements.
  • Right to work in the UK.
