Devenish Support For Young Enterprise NI (YENI)

Devenish are proud to have been supporting Young Enterprise Northern Ireland’s Company programme in recent months.

The programme is aimed at 5th year GCSE business students who create a student start-up company, developing and creating a product, producing a business plan, a marketing campaign and selling to the public at various Trade Fairs.

In September students from Aquinas Grammar School Belfast launched their company Venture LTD, a business selling scented deodorising disks that aim to combat and neutralise nasty odours in our small brown food waste bins.

People Development Manager Ryan Connor has been acting as a Business Mentor for Aquinas and the group attended a trade fair at St Georges market on the 6th December, where they had the opportunity to get customer feedback and 'Pitch to a Pro'.

Ryan commented "it's great to have the opportunity to offer some advice to develop the skills and knowledge of young people who will hopefully be future entrepreneurs and leaders in business. There was plenty of lessons learned as they took their product from conception to market, but the potential and enthusiasm of the students is a credit to their school."

"It also provides a unique platform to highlight the potential careers that Devenish could offer in the future to an age group that may not be familiar with the work that we do".

The group will visit further trade fairs in the New Year, before working out their final financial statement and winding the business down to give them experience of the whole life cycle of a small business.
